I’m already comfortable sharing a house. Why couldn’t I share ownership as well? It’s the kind of flexibility that feels important when you’re in your twenties and life can change pretty quickly.

Like a lot of people in Brisbane, we often end up driving up to the Sunshine Coast or into the hinterland for a weekend away. Every time we go, we have the same conversation: “What if we had a place up here?”

Owning in Sydney while renting in Brisbane hasn’t been straightforward. Because we’re not living in our Sydney property, different tax rules apply. After land tax and other costs, the rental income isn’t what we once imagined it would be. At the same time, we’re paying significant rent in Brisbane.

I’m not ready to commit all my savings to one purchase. But I’m also not comfortable doing nothing.

Professionals? I know I need advice. But when, where, who – and at what point?! It can feel like a maze – and that's totally understandable.
